The illustrations are well drawn, with a slightly gothic aspect to all of them. For my taste, more description should have been used to make this story more chilling but perhaps younger readers will find the horror elements convincing. By reading this book, readers will find that Salisbury is full of history - if you know where to look - which is why it suits this ghost story so well. I liked the use of historical characters and places which gave the story a new depth. They discover that the ghosts are pursuing him over an ancient murder. Jon, our hero, doesn't like the idea of going to boarding school in Salisbury but he is soon pursued by vengeful ghosts and meets Ella. ![]()
